FIBERSHED
The Fibershed at Grow Benzie, established in 2017, focuses on diverting fiber waste from landfills and offering creative educational opportunities. Initially partnered with Crosshatch Center for Art and Ecology, the project began after a community event featuring the film “True Cost.”
Led by Emily Votruba and volunteers, they transformed spaces into a sewing studio and marketplace for fiber-related items. Fiber donations from the community could be purchased or traded through fiber credits.
In 2021, Fibershed shifted to accepting only fabric, yarn, and notions, excluding clothing. They host workshops and activities that unite the community to create handmade and repurposed items.
During the conference, the Fibershed will be open from 11 AM to 1:30 PM for guests to visit, shop, and learn more!
KID’S TENT
Early Head Start-Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency (NMCAA) presents the kids' tent in collaboration with 5toOne for our Grow Benzie Community Center playgroups.
We are delighted to announce that the conference will feature a kids' tent with fun activities for all ages! This area is free to attend and offers a fantastic space for kids to learn and play while their adults enjoy the conference.
